GMRS Licensing Instructions (Short)

GMRS Licensing Instructions (Short)

Below is the process for navigating the FCC system for the GMRS License

The FCC site is challenging to navigate and Cores doesn’t link to the Licensing pages needed to start the application.

Once you’re registered in Cores, it takes a while on the FCC side to sync your FRN to your UserID (Email).

Syncing between Cores and FCC’s FRN does happen automagically, but it takes more than 5 minutes and you will get a login errors on the License page if you don’t wait for the sync to finish.

Give it at least 15 mins, or an hour, or overnight (overnight worked when building this guide).

Step 1:
Sign up with Cores:
https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do

Step 2:
Wait the appropriate amount of time and then go to the licence manager:
https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/licenses.jsp

Step3:
Apply for a new license – ZA is the code for GMRS and it’s all the way at the bottom of the list.

Step 4:
Once complete, you need to go back to Cores Financial to pay the license fee

Once you have paid, wait for the application to complete, and congrats on your new GMRS license!
